A Gift of Nature, Light and Photography

Christmas is a time for giving something special — something personal, beautiful and lasting. This year, I am delighted to share my 2027 Photography Calendars, featuring some of my favourite images captured during the past four years of travelling and photographing the incredible landscapes and wildlife of New Zealand and Southern Africa.

Each calendar has been created from a carefully selected collection of my professional photographs. These are not simply photographs to me; each image represents a moment, a journey, a place and often many hours of patience waiting for the perfect light.

Whether as a Christmas gift for family and friends, a special present for a client or business associate, or simply something beautiful for your own home or office, these calendars bring a little piece of the natural world into everyday life.

New Zealand Rainforest Landscapes

There is something truly magical about entering the ancient rainforests of New Zealand's South Island.

This calendar showcases the temperate rainforests of Fiordland, together with landscapes from Mount Aspiring National Park. Over the years, I have spent many days trekking away from the well-worn tracks, searching for those hidden places that reveal the quieter and more mysterious side of New Zealand's wilderness.

Some locations required long walks into the forest, climbing down into remote gorges and following streams and rivers in search of something different. The rainforest can be challenging to photograph, but it is also incredibly rewarding.

The soft filtered light, ancient trees, moss-covered rocks, waterfalls, ferns and mist create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else.

My aim was not simply to photograph a rainforest, but to capture its mood, atmosphere and sense of wilderness — those hidden secrets that are so easily missed.

African Wildlife Photography

Africa has always held a special place in my heart as a photographer.

During recent travels through Zululand in South Africa, the Kalahari Desert, Namibia and Botswana, I had the privilege of photographing African wildlife in its natural environment.

This calendar brings together some of my favourite wildlife images from these journeys, with many captured during the magical golden hour, when the warm African light transforms the landscape and brings wildlife to life.

From powerful predators and majestic elephants to smaller and more intimate moments between animals, every photograph tells its own story.

Wildlife photography requires patience. Sometimes it means sitting quietly for hours, waiting for an animal to appear in the right place, or waiting for the sun to move into exactly the right position.

Then, in a matter of seconds, everything comes together — the animal, the behaviour, the surroundings and that perfect light.

Those are the moments I live for as a photographer.

Birds of New Zealand & Southern Africa

Bird photography has taken me to some extraordinary places, from the coastlines and forests of New Zealand to the deserts, wetlands and savannahs of Southern Africa.

This calendar showcases a selection of beautiful, unusual and rare birds photographed across New Zealand and Southern Africa.

Every bird presents a different challenge. Some are constantly moving, some are incredibly well camouflaged, while others may only give you a few precious seconds to capture the photograph you have been waiting for.

For me, bird photography is about much more than simply recording a species. I try to capture the character of the bird — its behaviour, environment and personality — while also searching for beautiful light and a compelling composition.

These images represent some of my favourite bird photographs from the past four years of travelling and exploring.

Every photograph featured in these three calendars was professionally photographed and edited by me.

I have carefully selected what I consider to be some of my best images from the last four years of photography across New Zealand, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.

Each photograph has a story behind it.

Some required hours of trekking. Others involved waiting patiently in a hide or sitting quietly in the wilderness. Many required returning to the same location again and again, waiting for the conditions to be just right.

These are images that are particularly special to me — photographs I have captured during some unforgettable journeys — and I would love to share them with you.

A Christmas Gift with a Difference

Photography allows us to stop time.

A single frame can preserve a moment that may never happen again — a moment to remember, cherish and share forever.
