Getting up early for long exposure Landscape Sunrise Photography

I have a full-time corporate job Monday to Fridays. Weekend I spend doing what I love most and that is keeping my eye behind the lens of my camera. It’s all about chasing that perfect light capturing a moment in time to cherish forever. During the work week I need to get up very early each workday at 5am. Weekends can be a bit of challenge to get up early, but once you get to your location and set-up your camera it’s a special time of the day, with no people around. Just you, your camera, the ocean and watching the first daylight rising in the East as the stars start to fade away.

The images below were captured using slow shutter speeds, (long exposures, up to 30seconds), that captures the movement of the ocean, whilst also capturing the beautiful colour of the sun rising. My f-stop is usually a high number f11-f16, to ensure a good depth of field. Due to the long exposures needed, my camera is mounted on a sturdy tripod. I use a 2 second timer to reduce camera shake. My ISO was either 50 or 100.
